rain

i take a class in the morning, and today we set up the 'emergency phone chain' of sorts, similar to when i was in the youth orchestra and someone would call if practice was canceled due to snow. except here its for the rain.
for the past two weeks they have been building a fairly elaborate system of scaffolding and canopy over the central courtyard, im assuming also for the rain. school resumes soon, im not sure when, but the primary school kids have been on vacation for a while.
the clouds have been big and white, every so often dark, and this morning was almost ominous. ive noticed that for the past two weeks, its been the hottest its been since my arrival. and the nights no longer cool down.
so today, sitting in class, i got the shakes, which progressed into the quickest onset of flu ive ever experienced. aches, chills, with a fever so spectacular that i could probably cook an egg on my forehead. i learned that this is fairly common though, in the time just before the rains.
and sure enough, half an hour ago, the sky opened up with a faint hush and a little thunder. and almost immediately, its about three degrees cooler inside, i can only imagine how beautiful it is outside. its not unlike that feeling that comes from the first snow of the season...
